Welcome
Is it time to re-grout the tile in your shower, bath tub-surround or walls?
What is "Grout"?

Tile grout is a specially formulated type of cement for filling in the spaces between wall or floor tiles. Grout provides a water tight barrier preventing water from getting behind the tile .
Most grouts are porous. This means that every time you take a shower or clean the tiles they absorb water. Eventually, this can damage the substrate of the grout in addition to eroding the grout itself. In an older bathroom, there likely are cracks in the grout that allow in even more moisture. Some of this water will evaporate throughout the day, but some will penetrate behind the wall leading to mold, mildew and rotting of the structure.
Because of the porous nature of grout, dirt and stains hide in their pores and when they are not cleaned properly or left untreated they become a breathing ground for mold and bacteria.
